Me receiving the runner-up prize at the Indian Culinary Agenda's conference in New Delhi in April 2024

In February 2024, I submitted a research paper proposal to the Indian Culinary Agenda's Food Writing Prize on the theme of Indian heritage rice. My proposal was accepted, alongside eleven other proposals, which aimed to explore rice grown in the home of my ancestors in Sindh before the partition of India. Through this paper, I wanted to enshrine the role of rice in Sindhi cuisine, a cuisine that is otherwise overlooked, unexplored and lives on in the homes of the displaced Sindhi diaspora in India.

I presented my paper at the ICA Weekend in April 2024 where I was announced as runner-up for ICA's Food Writing Prize 2024 for my paper on Lost Rice from a Lost Homeland. The paper will soon be published and I am delighted to have contributed to an improved understanding of Sindhi cuisine in the Indian and global food writing landscape. In the meantime, you can watch my full presentation here
